Obituary

The earthly life of William (Bill) Reed Breese ended on December 13, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on February 13, 1939, in Galion, Ohio, to Lemuel and Helen Wisham Breese and later moved to South Charleston in 1968. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara (Kasper) Breese; sister, Helen (Robert) Johnston of Melbourne, Fla., daughters, Ann Nolan (Marty) of Strongsville, Ohio, Amy Hill (Butch) of South Charleston; sons, Jamie Breese (Christine) of Peoria, Ariz., Jeff Breese (Kelly) of St. Albans and Joseph Breese (Diona) of Dunedin, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren: Emily, Andrew, Joseph, Maranda, Molly, Madison, Marley, Jacob, Joseph and Julian. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in accounting and was a CPA in private practice with his son, Jeff, in South Charleston. He was a parishioner, lector and former Finance Council Chairman at Blessed Sacrament Parish; a member for many years of the Charleston Lions Club; a board member for the South Charleston Museum, Greater Charleston Swimming Association and Charleston Opera Guild; and a former instructor at Morris Harvey College. He also coached baseball for many years and donated nearly 20 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. Bill was an avid Cleveland Indians fan his whole life, was a ham radio operator and held a special appreciation of nature and the many pets he and his family owned throughout the years. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, December 27, at Blessed Sacrament Parish, followed by a funeral mass at noon. He will be interred at the Blessed Sacrament Columbarium.
