Deacon Howard House Jr., 83, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2018, with his loving wife of 62 years, Lucille House, by his side. He was born on February 8, 1935, in Vernetta, WV, to the late Howard L. House Sr. and Etta Jones. He retired from Pepsi Cola in Purchase, NY, after over 20 years and Laidlaw School Bus Company after 17 years. After moving back to West Virginia to care for his mother, he retired from West Virginia State College after 17 years. He served as a Deacon at The Church of the Living God for over 20 years in Port Chester, NY, under Bishop Robert Girtman. He served as a Deacon at Powerhouse of Deliverance Church for over 30 years in Dunbar, WV, under Bishop Melvin Mosley. He never missed the opportunity to witness of the goodness of the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, William and Hattie Preston; his son, Cecil House Sr.; his daughter, Tamel House; his granddaughter, Rocquel House; brother-in-law, James Preston; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Mitchell and Sarah Nowling; son-in-law, Richard Peterkin. He is survived by his precious wife; daughters, Deborah Peterkin and Minister Cheryl House of Dunbar, WV, Joyce (Jeffery) Chandler of Poughkeepsie, NY, Delmetris (John) Peterkin of McKeesport, PA; sisters, Edrema Hughes of Dunbar, WV, and Rosharon (Earl) Cardell of Columbus, OH; brother, Leonard Barron of Columbus, OH; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held at noon Monday, May 7, at Powerhouse of Deliverance Church in Dunbar, with Bishop Melvin Mosley and Bishop Clifton Thorpe officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior at the church. Preston Funeral Home, Charleston, is in charge of arrangements.
