Arthur Blair Curtis, 75, of Philippi, WV, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following an extended illness. He was born at Bemis (Elkins) on May 20, 1944, a son of the late Everett C. Curtis and Pearl F. (White) Curtis Curkendall. Arthur is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Janet Louise (Hartong) Curtis, whom he married on December 14, 1968. In addition to his wife Arthur is survived by two children: Earl Clair Curtis of Philippi and Susan Yvonne Verna (Martin) of Bobtown, PA; two grandchildren: Nathan Grant Curtis Verna and Melanie Christine Verna; special nephew Ronald Clayton and nieces Tina Green and Regina Stewart as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Arthur was preceded in death by one sister Clara Phillips, and two brothers: Everett Duaine “Gunsmoke” Curtis and baby brother Donald Lee Curtis. Arthur served his country honorably in the United States Navy with multiple tours overseas, something he was very proud of. He specialized in heating and cooling work and was employed with various companies over the years, including operating his own HVAC business, Arjan Heating & Cooling. Arthur enjoyed putting together model airplanes, loved playing chess, and hunting and fishing when he was able. He and his wife were long-time members of Union Baptist Church in Simpson. Arthur loved his family and extended family and greatly enjoyed spending time with all of them. Arthur’s wishes for cremation will be honored and a memorial service will be held at a later date, to be announced. "The Bradley J.
