Hayward Gene Curtis, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV, died Monday, October 23, 2023, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born February 17, 1948, in Weston, WV, a son of the late Lloyd and Clara Harris Curtis. On August 15, 1971, he married Mary Lou Bowman Curtis who preceded him in death on October 8, 2006. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Gertrude Burge: two brothers Andrew and John Curtis and two nephews, Bob Groves and David Reichle. He is survived by one son, Charles Curtis of Buckhannon; one daughter, Connie Curtis of Buckhannon; one grandson, Arey Louis Harman of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Icy Marie Curtis of Buckhannon; one sister, Eva Reichle of LA; six nieces and nephews, Pearl Smith of Roanoke, WV, Darlene Jordan of Wildcat, WV, Russell Groves of Silver Springs, FL, and Becky Guidry, Robert Reichle and Rebecca Guidry all of LA. Mr. Curtis was a timber cutter. Friends will be received Friday, October 27, 2023, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tallmansville, WV. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
