Jesse Lee Delaney Jr., 93, of Flemington, WV (Brownton Community), passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Meadowview Manor in Bridgeport. He was born at Rosemont on March 16, 1925, a son of the late Jesse Lee Delaney Sr. and Rhoda Gay (Stout) Delaney. Mr. Delaney is survived by his wife of 35 years, V. Grace Delaney; four children: Roger Delaney and wife Barbara of Maple Lake, Donald Delaney and wife Kathy of Brownton, Lesa Smith and husband Mike of Mount Airy, MD, and Kristi Freeman and husband Tom of Moatsville, WV; one sister, Bonnie Butler of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren: Scott Delaney (Charee), Angela Delaney, Kimberly Delaney, Mychael Smith (Aubrey), Jakob Smith, Mikhela Freeman, and Brock Freeman; great-granddaughter, Alex Delaney and great-granddaughter Camdyn Smith on the way. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Jesse was preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, Kathleen Delaney; and siblings: Clarence Delaney, Bob Delaney, Paul Delaney, Odie Ray Delaney, Arley Delaney, Carol Louk, Gay Corley, Rosalee Williams, Lucille Vanderpool, and Audrey Delaney in infancy. Jesse was a Veteran of the United States Army during World War II, serving in Germany and France and also received a Bronze Star. He was a coal miner all of his life, retiring from Bager Coal Company in 1982. Jesse took great pride in maintaining his property and cutting the grass, loved tinkering with small engines, building bird houses, and was an all-around good handy-man. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting in his younger years. Jesse was known to always lend a helping hand to everyone and his greatest enjoyment was his family, especially his grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at the Bradley J. Mayle Funeral Home in Flemington, WV, on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 11am with Pastor Paul Byrd presiding. Per Jesse’s wishes cremation services will follow and inurnment will take place at the Flemington I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The Bradley J.
